For many years, the name of Cox Water Borehole Drilling, of Barnstaple North Devon, has been associated with reliability and excellence in water borehole drilling. We have considerable drilling and borehole installation experience, drilling not only for ourselves but for other borehole companies as well. By consistently providing good customer service, and a very high standard of work, we have built up an excellent reputation which we're very proud of.
We are a family-run business offering a friendly, personalised service, and generously operating on a no-water no-fee basis (we are in fact one of the few companies happy to offer a no-water no-fee service - but of course it's impossible to guarantee the quality of the water from any borehole, as it can vary in different locations, so in some cases we may need to install a filter).
We also offer a FREE site survey and quote, which includes FREE water divining!
So whatever your private water supply requirements, give us a call - we'll assess what needs doing at your convenience, discuss what the most cost effective solution for you would be and provide you with a free written quotation so you know exactly what you'll get from us and what it will cost.

With the cost of mains water constantly rising it's no wonder more and more people (homeowners and those reliant on water for commercial purposes) are opting for a borehole to supply them with water. Once installed, a borehole usually provides a consistently reliable source of water (although the quality can vary in different regions and filters may be required).
Boreholes are usually between 30 to 60 metres (100 to 200 feet) in depth. The water obtained is free and you only need an extraction licence if you intend to take more than 4400 gallons a day.
We are borehole drilling specialists covering Devon, Somerset and Cornwall.
We constantly invest in new equipment to enable us to offer the best, most reliable service we can. Our machinery includes tractors and numerous drilling rigs (one of which is a Mercedes-Benz Unimog which allows us to keep costs down as we don't have to add low loader costs onto our quotes) enabling us to cover a wider area and provide a fast, efficient service.
We do not skimp either on the quality of the materials we use, for example the blue borehole liners we use are all WRAS (Water Regulation Advisory Scheme) Approved as being up-to-standard. This ensures our boreholes have the maximum life span.
We include Water Divining as part of our FREE initial site visit.
Water Divining, or water Dowsing as it's sometimes called, is a very old 'tried and tested' method of locating underground water sources (aquafers).
Divining rods can be made of many things but are traditionally hazel twigs, these are held in a certain way by the diviner while walking over the site. The presence of water is indicated by the spontaneous movement of the rods.
Water Divining is a fascinating and extremely useful art and many customers call on us for our expertise in this field.
